Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup Frank's Red Hot Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Start by cutting your chicken breast into 1-inch pieces. This size is perfect for achieving that bite-sized nugget texture.
  • In one mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and garlic powder. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg until well combined.
  • Dip each piece of chicken into the buttermilk mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Then, coat it in the flour mixture, ensuring it's fully covered. Place the breaded chicken nuggets on a plate or baking sheet.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes. This step ensures that your nuggets start cooking immediately when placed inside.
  • Arrange the breaded chicken nuggets in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to do this in batches. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • While the nuggets are cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the Frank's Red Hot Sauce. Adjust the amount of hot sauce based on your preferred spice level.
  • Once the nuggets are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl and pour the buffalo sauce over them. Toss gently until all the pieces are well coated.
  • Serve your Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Nuggets hot, with your favorite dipping sauces like ranch or blue cheese. They’re perfect for sharing or enjoying all on your own!
