Servings: 2 servings

Ingredients

For the Smoothie:

  • 1 handful baby spinach, kale, or other dark, leafy greens (optional)
  • 1 cup frozen banana (cut into chunks)
  • 1 cup cottage cheese or plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or regular dairy milk
  • 1 scoop protein powder or collagen powder (optional)
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • to taste banana slices, mini chocolate chips, cacao nibs, cinnamon, cocoa powder, or whipped cream (for garnish)

Instructions

Directions:

  • Start by measuring out your ingredients. If you haven’t done so already, cut your ripe banana into chunks and gather your leafy greens, if using.
  • In your blender, add the frozen banana chunks, cottage cheese or Greek yogurt, and almond or dairy milk. If you’re using protein or collagen powder, throw that in too!
  • If you want to pack in some nutrients, toss in a handful of baby spinach or kale. This is optional but highly recommended for a healthy twist.
  • Blend on high speed until everything is well combined and smooth. If you find the consistency too thick, you can add more milk to thin it out.
  • Add ice cubes to the blender based on your preferred thickness. Blend again until the ice is fully crushed and everything is incorporated.
  • Pour your smoothie into a glass, and if you’re feeling fancy, top it with banana slices, chocolate chips, cacao nibs, a sprinkle of cinnamon or cocoa powder, or a dollop of whipped cream.

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring Cups
  • Spatula
  • Serving glass

Notes

  • For the best flavor, use very ripe and frozen bananas.
  • Check that yogurt and milk alternatives are unsweetened for dairy-free options.
  • Adjust sweetness with honey or maple syrup if desired.
  • Add a tablespoon of cocoa powder for a chocolatey twist.
