Ingredients

  • 16 ounces fresh green beans trimmed and washed
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup slivered almonds
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt such as Lawry's
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  • Start by trimming the ends of the green beans. Rinse them thoroughly under cold water and set them aside to dry.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the unsalted butter. Allow it to melt completely, swirling the pan gently. Watch as the butter foams and turns golden brown, about 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat once it smells nutty.
  • Add the slivered almonds to the brown butter in the skillet. Return to low heat, stirring frequently until golden and fragrant, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  • Add the rinsed green beans along with onion powder, seasoned salt, and Italian seasoning. Stir to coat the beans in the brown butter mixture. Cook for about 5 to 7 minutes until tender yet crisp.
  • Once cooked to your liking, remove from heat. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm and enjoy!

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Measuring Spoons

Notes

  • For a healthier option, use olive oil instead of butter.
  • Swap slivered almonds for walnuts or pecans for different flavors.
  • Add a squeeze of lemon juice before serving for a zesty kick.
