Ingredients

  • 1 each pizza dough
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup Pecorino Romano cheese, freshly grated
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) or as high as it will go. If you’re using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness. Aim for a nice round shape, and make sure it’s not too thick to ensure a crispy base.
  • Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a pizza peel or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle the olive oil over the surface of the dough and spread it evenly with your hands or a brush.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the freshly grated Pecorino Romano cheese, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • Sprinkle the cheese and seasoning mixture evenly over the olive oil-brushed pizza dough. Make sure to cover the surface generously.
  • Carefully slide the pizza onto the hot pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling and the crust is golden brown.
  • Once the pizza is out of the oven, let it cool for a minute. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before slicing. Serve hot and enjoy every cheesy, peppery bite!
