Ingredients

  • 1 cup salted butter at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar to add a light sweetness
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour the base for our cookies
  • Colored sprinkles to add a festive touch

Instructions

  • Begin by placing the room-temperature salted butter in a large mixing bowl. Add the powdered sugar. Using an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar together on medium speed until the mixture is light and fluffy. This should take about 3-4 minutes.
  • Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the butter mixture. Mix on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; you want the dough to remain tender.
  • Once the dough is ready, gently fold in the colored sprinkles using a spatula. Make sure they are evenly distributed throughout the dough for that festive look.
  • Using a cookie scoop, portion out the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Leave some space between each cookie, as they will spread slightly while baking.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Keep an eye on them; you want them to be soft in the center.
  • Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Allow them to cool completely before serving.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Electric Mixer
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Cookie Scoop

Notes

  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
  • For longer storage, freeze cookies in a single layer and separate layers with parchment paper.
  • To avoid spreading, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
