Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken

  • Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Set aside.

Set Up the Breading Station

  • Pour milk into a shallow bowl. In another bowl, combine breadcrumbs, shredded cheddar cheese, and chopped green onions.

Coat the Chicken

  • Dip each chicken breast into the milk, letting the excess drip off, then dredge it in the breadcrumb-cheese mixture. Press gently to ensure coating sticks. Place coated chicken on a plate or baking sheet.

Cook the Chicken

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken breasts and cook 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature 165°F or 74°C). Cook in batches if needed.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Remove chicken from skillet and let rest for a few minutes. Serve with your favorite sides such as salad or roasted vegetables.

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Shallow Bowls
  • Plate or Baking Sheet

Notes

  • Use fresh breadcrumbs from day-old bread for a lighter, crispier texture.
  • Allow the chicken to rest after cooking to keep it juicy and tender.
  • Adjust seasoning by adding smoked paprika or cayenne for extra flavor and heat.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken is cooked perfectly without drying out.
  • Make it gluten-free by substituting breadcrumbs with gluten-free crumbs or crushed nuts.
