Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk (245g)
  • 1 large egg (50g)
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted (28g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5g)

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour, sugar, kosher salt, and cocoa powder until well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined.
  • Heat your skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease if not non-stick.
  • Pour about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes until bubbles form on the surface.
  • Flip the pancakes and cook for another 1-2 minutes until slightly browned. Remove and keep warm.
  • Serve warm with your favorite toppings like maple syrup, whipped cream, or fresh berries.
