Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups apples peeled and diced (choose a firm variety like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 0.5 cup turkey bacon cooked and crumbled (optional)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk for glaze

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon until evenly combined.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy and smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract. Gradually add the milk and continue mixing until the batter is smooth and well incorporated.
  • Slowly add the dry flour mixture into the wet ingredients, stirring gently just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Gently fold in the diced apples and crumbled turkey bacon (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • While the bread is baking, whisk together the powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk in a small bowl until smooth. Adjust consistency as needed.
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top and let it set before slicing and serving.
