Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet potatoes peeled and cut into fries
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for coating the fries and helping them crisp up
  • 1 teaspoon paprika adds a smoky depth
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder for savory undertones
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt enhances all flavors
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper adds mild heat and complexity
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional, for those who love a spicy kick

Instructions

  • Begin by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
  • Peel two large sweet potatoes and cut them into evenly sized fries—aim for about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick for uniform cooking.
  • Place the sweet potato fries in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if using. Toss until fries are well coated.
  • Spread fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, avoiding overcrowding to ensure crispiness.
  • Bake for 15 minutes, then flip each fry using tongs or a spatula. Bake for another 10-15 minutes until fries are golden and crisp on the edges but tender inside.
  • Remove from oven and let fries cool slightly to crisp up more. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce or as a side dish.

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Sharp Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Spatula or tongs
  • Oven

Notes

  • Use avocado or coconut oil as alternatives to olive oil for different flavors.
  • Try swapping paprika for smoked paprika or chili powder for smoky or spicy variations.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 3 days; reheat in oven to maintain crispiness.
