Ingredients

For the Steak:

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 pounds beef cubed steak (about 6 pieces)
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable or olive oil
  • 1 large onion (sliced)

For the Gravy:

  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup (10.25-ounce)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 envelope brown gravy mix
  • 1 envelope onion gravy mix
  • Chopped parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

Directions:

  • Step 1: Prepare the Steak - Mix the all-purpose flour, seasoned salt, and garlic powder in a mixing bowl. Dredge each piece of cubed steak in this flour mixture, ensuring they're well-coated.
  • Step 2: Sear the Steak - In a large skillet, heat the vegetable or olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the floured cubed steak and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until browned.
  • Step 3: Layer in the Crock Pot - Transfer the seared cubed steak to your Crock Pot. Layer the sliced onion on top of the steak.
  • Step 4: Prepare the Gravy - In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, water, brown gravy mix, and onion gravy mix. Pour this gravy mixture over the steak and onions in the Crock Pot.
  • Step 5: Cook Low and Slow - Cover the Crock Pot and set it to low. Let it cook for about 6-8 hours, or until the steak is tender.
  • Step 6: Serve and Garnish - Once done, stir the gravy. Serve the cubed steak and gravy over mashed potatoes or rice, and sprinkle with chopped parsley if desired.
