Ingredients

For the Brownies:

  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix 15.25-ounce
  • 14 ounces soft or chewy caramel candies unwrapped
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk divided
  • 1/2 cup melted salted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans optional

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Step 2: Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper.
  • Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, melted butter, and 1/4 cup of evaporated milk. Mix until well combined.
  • Step 4: Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  • Step 5: Melt the caramel candies with the remaining evaporated milk in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth.
  • Step 6: Pour the melted caramel over the brownie batter.
  • Step 7: Drop spoonfuls of the remaining brownie batter over the caramel layer.
  • Step 8: Top with chocolate chips and optional pecans.
  • Step 9: Bake for 28-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  • Step 10: Cool for at least 20 minutes before cutting into squares.
