Step 5: Melt the caramel candies with the remaining evaporated milk in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth.
Step 6: Pour the melted caramel over the brownie batter.
Step 7: Drop spoonfuls of the remaining brownie batter over the caramel layer.
Step 8: Top with chocolate chips and optional pecans.
Step 9: Bake for 28-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
Step 10: Cool for at least 20 minutes before cutting into squares.
