Ingredients

  • 1 baguette baguette sliced into ½-inch pieces
  • 1 cup fig jam
  • 4 ounces turkey bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 4 ounces goat cheese softened
  • fresh arugula for garnish
  • olive oil for brushing

Instructions

Prepare the Baguette Slices

  • Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice your baguette into even ½-inch thick pieces. Arrange the slices on a baking sheet in a single layer. Brush each slice lightly with olive oil to ensure a golden, crispy texture once toasted.

Toast the Baguette

  • Place the baking sheet in the oven and toast the baguette slices for 8-10 minutes or until they are golden and crisp. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning. Once toasted, remove from the oven and allow them to cool slightly.

Cook and Crumble the Turkey Bacon

  • While the baguette is toasting, cook the turkey bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove from the pan and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat. Once cool enough to handle, crumble the turkey bacon into small pieces.

Assemble the Crostini

  • Spread a generous layer of softened goat cheese onto each toasted baguette slice. Next, add a dollop of fig jam on top of the goat cheese. Sprinkle crumbled turkey bacon over the fig jam, ensuring each bite has that perfect balance of flavors.

Garnish and Serve

  • Finish by topping each crostini with a few fresh arugula leaves for a pop of color and a peppery bite. Arrange the crostini on a serving platter and serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking Sheet
  • Skillet
  • Paper Towels

Notes

  • Use high-quality fig jam, homemade or artisanal, for the best flavor impact.
  • Softening goat cheese helps with easier spreading and better flavor blending.
  • Toast baguette slices longer for extra crunch but watch carefully to avoid burning.
  • Drizzle balsamic glaze over crostini before serving for an extra flavor layer.
  • For a vegetarian option, omit turkey bacon and add caramelized onions or roasted mushrooms.
