Ingredients

  • 1 can chickpeas (drained and rinsed)
  • 3 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Olive oil (for drizzling)
  • Finely chopped onions (for garnishing)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)
  • Fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  • Gather and measure all ingredients. Drain and rinse the chickpeas under cold water. Crush garlic cloves.
  • In a food processor, combine chickpeas, crushed garlic, tahini, lemon juice, oregano, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Process until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  • Taste the hummus and adjust seasoning as necessary. Add more lemon juice for tanginess or a bit of water or olive oil for creaminess.
  • Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with chopped onions, parsley, and cilantro for garnish.
