Total Time40 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Long-grain white rice works best for texture and fluffiness
  • 4 cups chicken broth adds a rich, savory depth to the rice
  • 1 pound chicken breast cubed, boneless and skinless
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for sautéing the garlic and chicken
  • 1 teaspoon salt enhances all the flavors
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper adds a subtle heat
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped, optional, adds color and freshness

Instructions

Prepare Your Ingredients

  • Rinse the rice under cold water to remove excess starch. Cube the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces, mince the garlic, grate the Parmesan cheese if needed, and chop fresh parsley for garnish.

Sauté Garlic and Chicken

  • Heat olive oil over medium heat in a large skillet or sauté pan. Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant without burning. Add cubed chicken breast, season with salt and pepper, and cook until no longer pink outside, about 5-7 minutes.

Add Rice and Broth

  • Pour rinsed rice into the pan with chicken and garlic. Stir well to coat the rice grains. Slowly add chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cover with a tight-fitting lid.

Simmer Until Rice is Cooked

  • Let the rice and chicken simmer gently for 18-20 minutes, or until rice has absorbed the broth and is tender. Avoid lifting the lid during cooking.

Finish with Parmesan and Parsley

  • Remove pan from heat and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top. Stir gently to combine. If using, stir in chopped fresh parsley for color and freshness.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Scoop portions onto plates and serve immediately. Pairs well with a green salad or steamed vegetables, and optionally Garlic Herb Focaccia Garden Bread.

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Sauté Pan
  • Tight-fitting Lid

Notes

  • Rinse rice before cooking to keep it fluffy and prevent stickiness.
  • Use fresh Parmesan cheese for the best creamy, cheesy flavor.
  • Keep the lid on while simmering to ensure perfect rice texture.
  • Let the dish rest for 5 minutes after cooking to meld flavors.
  • Try adding vegetables like peas or spinach during the last 5 minutes for extra nutrition.
