Measure out 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels.
Place the popcorn kernels in a large, microwave-safe bowl.
Use a microwave-safe plate to cover the bowl.
Microwave on high for about 2-4 minutes, listening for the popping sounds.
Melt your 4 tablespoons of butter in a small microwave-safe bowl or cup.
Once popping has stopped, remove the bowl from the microwave carefully. Drizzle the melted butter over the popcorn, and sprinkle salt to taste. Toss gently to coat.
