Ingredients

For the Sauce:

  • 1 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes provides a kick of heat
  • 1 teaspoon paprika for a touch of smokiness
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt (with parsley flakes) infuses savory flavor
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for sautéing

For the Chicken:

  • 2 pieces boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 1 cup broccoli, chopped adds color and crunch
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar enhances caramelization

Instructions

Preparation Steps:

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. Chop the broccoli into bite-sized pieces and set it aside. Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized cubes for quicker cooking.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, crushed red pepper flakes, paprika, garlic salt, and brown sugar. This will be the glaze that coats the chicken.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken pieces and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Add the chopped broccoli to the skillet with the chicken. Sauté for another 3-4 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and tender-crisp.
  • Pour the honey sauce over the chicken and broccoli in the skillet. Stir well to coat everything evenly. Let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Remove from heat and serve your Honey Chicken over rice or noodles, if desired. Garnish with additional crushed red pepper flakes for an extra kick.

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, substitute the chicken with tofu or tempeh.
  • Adjust the spice level by adding more or fewer crushed red pepper flakes.
  • This dish is best served immediately but can be stored in the fridge for up to three days.
