Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings fresh or thawed, split into drumettes and flats
  • 1/4 cup honey pure honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce low-sodium preferred
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic freshly minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper freshly ground preferred
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds toasted, for garnish
  • 2 green onions sliced, for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top if available. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels.
  • Arrange the wings in a single layer on the wire rack or baking sheet. Bake for 35-40 minutes, flipping halfway through, until skin is crisp and meat is cooked through.
  • While the wings bake, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and ground black pepper in a small saucepan. Simmer over medium heat for 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until sauce thickens slightly.
  • Transfer the cooked wings to a large mixing bowl. Pour the warm honey garlic sauce over the wings and toss to coat evenly with the glaze.
  • Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions on top. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Equipment

  • Baking sheet or roasting pan
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Wire rack (optional)
  • Small Saucepan
  • Tongs

Notes

  • Drying the wings before baking is crucial for crispy skin.
  • Coat wings in sauce after baking to avoid burnt sugar and sogginess.
  • Use a wire rack for even cooking and crispiness.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat in oven or air fryer.
  • For gluten-free, swap soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos; for vegan, use maple syrup instead of honey.
