Ingredients

  • 2 lb tri-tip steak well-marbled
  • 2 tbsp BBQ rub store-bought or add 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Pat the tri-tip steak dry with paper towels.
  • Rub the olive oil all over the tri-tip and sprinkle the BBQ rub generously on all sides.
  • In a hot skillet over medium-high heat, sear the tri-tip for about 3-4 minutes on each side until a nice brown crust forms.
  • Transfer the tri-tip to the roasting pan and roast for about 25-30 minutes for medium-rare, or until the internal temperature reaches 135°F (57°C).
  • Let the tri-tip rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Using a sharp knife, slice the tri-tip against the grain and serve.
