Ingredients

For the Bars:

  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup rice crispies cereal
  • 3 tablespoons cornmeal
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil or coconut oil
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar

  • Step 1: Preheat the Oven - Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Step 2: Prepare Your Baking Dish - Line a 9x9 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Step 3: Mix the Dry Ingredients - In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, rice crispies cereal, cornmeal, salt, and baking soda.
  • Step 4: Combine the Wet Ingredients - In a separate bowl, whisk together the honey, oil, vanilla extract, and brown sugar.
  • Step 5: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients - Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and mix until well coated.
  • Step 6: Press into the Baking Dish - Transfer the mixture to your prepared baking dish and press down firmly.
  • Step 7: Bake - Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Step 8: Cool and Cut - Let cool for 10 minutes, then lift out and cut into squares.
