Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil for sautéing the vegetables
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend) for a perfect balance of flavor and juiciness
  • 2 medium carrots diced into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 onion diced into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 red bell pepper adds a pop of color and sweetness
  • 1 tbsp garlic minced
  • 1 tsp oregano dried
  • 1 tsp parsley dried
  • 1 tsp salt for seasoning
  • 1 tsp black pepper ground
  • 16 oz labneh yogurt (or Greek yogurt) for a creamy and tangy accompaniment
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for serving (optional)
  • 2 pita bread sliced, warmed or toasted, for serving
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients. Start by gathering all your ingredients. Dice the carrots, onion, and red bell pepper into 1-inch pieces. Mince the garlic and set aside.
  • Step 2: Sauté the Vegetables. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the diced onions and cook until they are translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Next, add the minced garlic, carrots, and red bell pepper. Sauté for another 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  • Step 3: Cook the Ground Beef. Add the ground beef to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Break it apart with a spoon and cook until browned, about 6-8 minutes. Make sure to drain any excess fat from the skillet if necessary.
  • Step 4: Season the Mixture. Once the beef is cooked, sprinkle in the dried oregano, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine all the flavors and let it cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  • Step 5: Prepare the Labneh Yogurt. In a mixing bowl, combine the labneh yogurt, minced garlic, salt, and fresh dill. Mix until smooth and well combined. This creamy yogurt will serve as the perfect counterbalance to the spiced beef.
  • Step 6: Assemble the Platter. On a large serving platter, spread the labneh yogurt mixture in the center. Top it with the spiced ground beef and vegetable mixture. Drizzle with olive oil if desired, and garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
  • Step 7: Serve with Pita Bread. Warm or toast the pita bread and slice it into wedges. Serve alongside the Mediterranean Ground Beef And Yogurt Platter for dipping and scooping.
