Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup creamy unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup honey (or light-colored corn syrup for firmer bars)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups Honey Nut Cheerios
  • 1 cup raisins (optional, or substitute with honey-roasted peanuts, chopped almonds, or trail mix)
  • About 1/2 cup chocolate-covered sunflower seeds (optional)
  • A pinch sea salt or Kosher salt (for sprinkling, optional)

Instructions

  • Start by lining your 9x9 inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the creamy unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the honey (or corn syrup) and the light brown sugar, stirring until dissolved and bubbly.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Quickly add the Honey Nut Cheerios and mix until well coated.
  • If using optional mix-ins like raisins or chocolate-covered sunflower seeds, fold them in now.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and press down firmly and evenly.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set. Lift out using the parchment overhang and cut into squares or bars.
