Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In your mixing bowl, add the chunks of unsalted butter. Then, sprinkle in the packed light brown sugar and granulated white sugar. Using a whisk, mix these ingredients together until well combined and creamy.
Crack the large egg into the bowl and pour in the vanilla extract. Whisk again until the mixture is smooth and homogenous.
Sprinkle the salt, baking soda, and all-purpose flour over the wet mixture. Gently fold the ingredients together with a spatula until just combined.
Add the 2 cups of chocolate chips to the dough and fold them in until evenly distributed.
Using a cookie scoop or a tablespoon, portion out the dough onto your prepared baking sheet.
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are still soft.
Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
