Ingredients

For the Kale Chips:

  • 1 bunch kale de-veined and thoroughly dried
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons runny tahini
  • ½ teaspoon free run salt
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust based on spice tolerance)
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Instructions

Cooking Instructions:

  • Step 1: Preheat Your Oven. Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). A properly heated oven is essential for achieving the perfect crispness.
  • Step 2: Prepare the Kale. Rinse the kale thoroughly and dry it completely using a salad spinner or by patting it down with a clean kitchen towel. This step is crucial because any moisture will prevent the chips from becoming crispy.
  • Step 3: Make the Tahini Mixture. In a mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, runny tahini, free run salt, cumin, cayenne pepper, and smoked paprika. Whisk the ingredients together until smooth and well combined.
  • Step 4: Toss the Kale. Add the dried kale to the bowl with the tahini mixture. Using tongs or your hands, toss the kale until every leaf is evenly coated with the dressing.
  • Step 5: Spread on a Baking Sheet. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the kale in a single layer on the baking sheet, ensuring that the pieces are not overlapping.
  • Step 6: Sprinkle with Sesame Seeds. Before placing the baking sheet in the oven, sprinkle the sesame seeds over the kale.
  • Step 7: Bake. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the edges are crispy and slightly golden. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
  • Step 8: Cool and Enjoy. Once out of the oven, let the kale chips cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet. Then, serve them warm or store them for later!
