Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup doenjang (Korean fermented soybean paste)
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions thinly sliced
  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Start by measuring out all your ingredients. Having everything ready will make the mixing process much smoother.
  • In your mixing bowl, combine the doenjang and gochujang. These two pastes form the base of your Ssamjang sauce and are essential for that authentic flavor.
  • Next, add the toasted sesame oil, honey, and minced garlic to the bowl. The honey will provide a touch of sweetness that balances out the spice from the gochujang.
  • Using a whisk or spoon, mix all the ingredients together until they are well combined and smooth. If you prefer a bit of texture, feel free to leave it slightly chunky.
  • Once mixed, fold in the thinly sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. These ingredients not only add flavor but also give the sauce a delightful crunch.
  • Taste your Ssamjang sauce and adjust the seasoning if necessary. If you like it spicier, add more gochujang; if you prefer it sweeter, add a bit more honey.
  • Your Ssamjang sauce is now ready to serve! Use it immediately or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for later use.
