Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 hamburger buns

Instructions

Prepare the Garlic Sauce

  • In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and cayenne pepper. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Set this aside in the refrigerator to allow the flavors to meld while you prepare the beef patties.

Prepare and Cook the Patties

  • Place the ground beef in a large bowl. Add minced garlic, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix gently until all ingredients are evenly incorporated, being careful not to overwork the meat to keep your patties tender.
  • Divide the seasoned ground beef into two equal portions and shape into patties slightly larger than your buns, as they will shrink during cooking. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Avoid pressing down on the patties to retain their juiciness.

Toast the Buns

  • While the patties cook, slice the hamburger buns in half and toast them lightly in a separate pan or under the broiler until golden brown. This step adds a delightful crunch and prevents the buns from becoming soggy once the sauce is added.

Assemble the Burgers

  • Spread a generous amount of the prepared garlic sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place the cooked beef patty on top, then add more garlic sauce on the patty if desired. Finish with the top bun and serve immediately.

Equipment

  • Medium Bowl
  • Large Bowl
  • Skillet
  • Toaster or Broiler

Notes

  • Use fresh minced garlic for a sharper, more vibrant flavor.
  • Chill the garlic sauce for at least 15 minutes before serving to deepen the flavors.
  • Avoid overmixing the ground beef to keep the patties tender and juicy.
  • Toast buns just before assembling to prevent sogginess.
  • Customize by adding cheese, herbs, or spicy elements to the sauce or patties.
