Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 1 pound boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for searing the chicken

For the Glaze:

  • ½ cup brown sugar for sweetness
  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sweet chili sauce for a hint of heat
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger for zestiness
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • to taste Dried red pepper flakes optional

  • Step 1: Prepare the Chicken - Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 2: Sear the Chicken - In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken thighs and sear for about 5-7 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  • Step 3: Make the Glaze - In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add the brown sugar, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sweet chili sauce, ginger, garlic, and lime juice. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
  • Step 4: Glaze the Chicken - Return chicken to the skillet, coating in the glaze. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, turning to coat evenly and allow the glaze to thicken.
  • Step 5: Serve and Enjoy - Remove from heat and serve over rice or with your favorite sides, sprinkling with red pepper flakes if desired.
