Ingredients

For the Pizza:

  • 1 package frozen garlic Texas toast (11.25-ounce)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup diced yellow onion
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 pound lean ground beef (93/7) or turkey/plant-based meat
  • 1 jar Rao’s pizza sauce (13-ounce)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup miniature pepperoni optional

Instructions

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven to the temperature indicated on the package of the garlic Texas toast, typically 425°F to 450°F.
  • Step 2: Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray to prevent the Texas toast from sticking.
  • Step 3: In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced yellow onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onions are translucent and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Step 4: Add the lean ground beef to the skillet with the onions and garlic. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Drain excess grease.
  • Step 5: Stir in 2 teaspoons of Italian seasoning and mix well. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Step 6: Arrange the frozen garlic Texas toast on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. Bake according to package instructions, usually around 5-7 minutes, until slightly golden.
  • Step 7: Spread a generous layer of Rao’s pizza sauce over each slice of Texas toast. Top with the cooked ground beef mixture, spreading it evenly.
  • Step 8: Sprinkle 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese over the beef mixture. If using, add the miniature pepperoni on top.
  • Step 9: Return the assembled pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are crispy.
  • Step 10: Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve!
