Ingredients

  • 1 pre-made flatbread or pizza dough choose your favorite variety
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil chopped
  • 1 tablespoon hot honey
  • optional toppings sliced tomatoes and arugula

Instructions

  • Start by placing the ricotta cheese in a medium bowl. Add the olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Using a hand mixer or a whisk, whip the ricotta until it becomes smooth and creamy.
  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). If you’re using pizza dough, roll it out to your desired thickness on a baking sheet or pizza stone. For flatbread, simply lay it out on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  • Spread the whipped ricotta mixture evenly over the flatbread or rolled-out pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the ricotta layer. If you like, add sliced tomatoes for extra freshness and flavor.
  • Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden and crispy.
  • Once the pizza is out of the oven, sprinkle the chopped fresh basil over the hot cheese. Drizzle the hot honey generously on top to add a spicy-sweet kick that perfectly complements the creamy cheeses.
  • For an extra layer of flavor and freshness, top the pizza with a handful of arugula just before serving. Slice and enjoy immediately while the flatbread is still warm and the flavors are at their peak.

Notes

  • Use whole milk ricotta for the creamiest texture.
  • Whip the ricotta thoroughly to make the topping light and airy.
  • Adjust the amount of hot honey to control the spiciness.
  • Pre-bake pizza dough for 5 minutes to keep crust crispy under toppings.
  • Add fresh basil after baking to preserve its bright flavor and color.
