Pulse the mixture until it starts to combine, then blend continuously until the hummus is smooth and creamy. If it seems too thick, add a tablespoon of water or more lemon juice to reach your desired consistency.
Taste your hummus and adjust the seasonings with more salt, pepper, or lemon juice if needed.
With the food processor running, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until fully incorporated.
Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle with additional olive oil and garnish with fresh basil leaves or a sprinkle of paprika if desired.
